First Priority: Planning the Project

Getting those first thoughts down on paper was the hardest.

I knew I wanted to create something that could showcase my abilities and strengths as a candidate for entry-level sales and marketing roles. I will not be holding a piece of paper saying I spent four years and tens of thousands of dollars only to end up in consideration for a position. Instead, I decided that I would create signals and evidence to show that I’m qualified for the role and can create value for the company starting on day one.

For me, this week meant getting confirmation on an opportunity with a marketing company called Cre8tives. I will be working with the founder, Randalyn Hill, to curate talking points for the newsletter, navigate Mailchimp to push out the email to her audience, and further promote the newsletter using social media outreach.

What I accomplished this week:

  • Landed an exciting email marketing opportunity with Cre8tives (I’m excited to grow my email marketing skillset with this experience and learn by doing)
  • Completed my first interview with Baremetrics and Xplenty
  • Created a plan of attack with set deadlines to hold myself accountable throughout the month

I am eager to embark on this journey of creating signals for skills I already have and building new ones along the way.

If my journey interests you in any way, stay tuned for weekly updates and posts dedicated to my process of learning out loud!
